Ottawa County is located in NW Ohio along the shores of Lake Erie. It's home to Davis Besse Nuclear Power Plant, which owns and operates a system of 54 2001 sirens of varying ages; 49 of which are located in Ottawa County (the other 5 are in Lucas Co). The county also has roughly 30 sirens owned by the county that aren't affiliated with DBNP. All sirens are tested on the 1st Friday at Noon for roughly 1 minute of a steady alert tone. The original siren system for Davis Besse system consisted of ACA sirens and Federal Signal sirens (T-Bolts and 2T22s) and were replaced in the late 1990s to early 2000s. Some towns also had fire sirens; many of which have been removed. Rocky Ridge and Put-In-Bay are the only communities in the county that still use their fire sirens.
