The City of Lakewood originally had a system during the Cuyahoga County Civil Defense net, which consisted of at least one Thunderbolt and several Model 7 sirens. Following dismantlement of the CD system in 1975, the city purchased a system of EOWS*612 sirens in the 1980s for use as tornado sirens. These sirens were upgraded to MCP controls in 1995, when a Modulator 6024 was added in Lakewood Park. In February 2018, Lakewood's Board of Control approved a proposal by Bearcom Wireless Worldwide and West Shore Services, Inc. for installation of a new siren system. This system saw the installation of four Modulator 4016B's and the relocation of the existing Modulator from Lakewood Park across town to Madison Park sometime in May or June of 2018.
