Owatonna is known to have had a few SoundMasters, RSH-10s, and STH-10s prior to the current system. Around 2013, the city's siren system was falling into disrepair as various sirens were non functional. The system was taken over by West Shore and, with the help of a state grant, a new system of 2001s and Modulators were purchased to replace all of the old sirens. All radios and cabinets on the existing 2001s were also upgraded, hence why all sirens have modern controls.
