Federal Signal Model 5 - 44.52749, -72.94467. This siren, first put into service in 1955, served as a fire warning siren for the Underhill/Jericho Fire Department until 1997, until it was removed from fire service when a new station was constructed. However, the siren was preserved and is now being used for the sole purpose of honoring the 343 fire fighters that died on the morning of September 11, 2001 following the attack on the original U.S. World Trade Center, better known as the Twin Towers. This siren is sounded twice every year on September 11, once at 9:59 AM, and again at 10:28 AM, in honor of those who perished. Submitted by NETrains&Sirens.
