Photos of Deer Park, TX's old Whelen siren system. The system was replaced in August of 2023 with Federal Signal 2001-130 sirens in August of 2023. These are 8 out of 10 sirens that were on the old system that were photographed by Andy DC. The two not photographed were WPS-2750s located at Luella Ave & Amy Dr and Georgia Ave & San Augustine St.
Whelen WPS-2750 - Avon Park. Replaced by a new 2001-130 in the same location. Photos taken in 6/2023.
Whelen WPS-2805 - Heritage Elementary School. Indirectly replaced by a 2001-130 down the street at Cottonwood Park. Photos taken in 6/2019.
Whelen WPS-2909 & Mutilated WPS-2809 Head - Deer Park Animal Shelter. The WPS-2909 head replaced the old WPS-2809 head shown laying on the ground due to a lightning strike. The technicians who removed the old WPS-2809 head briefly had it grounded and partly taken apart before removing it completely from the site; likely to the scrap yard. Photos taken in 8/2020.
Whelen WPS-2750 - Wisdom Dr & Glenwood Ave. Siren was indirectly replaced by a 2001-130 down the road at Bayou Bend Park. Photos taken in 11/2021.
